This Does Not Mean A Failure

I guess all Chelsea fans had been disappointed with the result just now. It had been a very challenging match and both side was held together with the score 1-1 until penalty shootout.

But yet Chelsea’s performance this season was not too bad, we were in the final of League Cup and the UEFA Champions League. And again, we were the runners up of English Premier League this season. We should be glad with the season's performance.

Back to the highlight of the match, Manchester United opened the score with unmarked header from Chrsitiano Ronaldo. Just before the first half finished, Frank Lampard with a great strike find the net to give the score 1-1.
Second half saw Chelsea controlled most of the game. A very powerful shoot by Didier Drogba almost changed the score, but the shoot just hit the post.

During the extra-time, Lampard almost scored his second goal, but his strike again hit the post. The final 15 minutes produced little in terms of goalmouth action as the mentality of both sides reverted to ensuring that they avoided a last-gasp knockout punch.

There was enough time, however, for Drogba to get himself sent off for a petulant slap on Nemanja Vidic. It is at times like this that heroes and villains are created, and in the torrential rain of the Luzhniki Stadium would be no different. As fate would have it Ronaldo saw his penalty saved by Cech, only to be rescued when Terry struck with the post with his. Otherwise we would witness Chelsea to hold the trophy just now, which could be the memorable thing to see.

Van der Sar then ensured that it would be United who lifted the trophy when he pushed away Anelka's sudden-death effort to hand the Red Devils a 6-5 victory. Congratulation again Manchester Utd, this season you did not give us chance to win any trophy, that's okey. A very competitive battle and SEE AGAIN NEXT SEASON!

This is Lampard's comment after the match.

"Penalties are difficult and that's why players miss. Cristiano Ronaldo is probably the best player in the world at the moment and he missed. John Terry missed. Anyone can miss. That's how cruel it is. I have respect for anyone who stands up and takes a penalty in that sort of situation."
