Sunday, Sky Sports ran a Breaking News banner implying that Jose Mourinho had ruled out a return to Chelsea.
Monday was supposed to be the day that, according to various reports, Jose Mourinho would be announced as the manager of a major club, probably Inter Milan.
However, this morning an exclusive in the Sun, penned by Ian McGarry, suggests that there is a possibility that Mourinho could make a sensational return to Stamford Bridge.
Now normally anything printed in the aforementioned rag could be taken with a pinch of salt, however, I`ve watched Ian McGarry on Paper Talk on Chelsea TV and he normally has his finger on the pulse.
Naturally, a Jose return would see an incredible turnaround and would also involve a certain amount of upheaval as McGarry points out that Jose would only come back on the following terms,
1. That he would have complete control of all football matters including transfers, first team and the academy.
2. Academy director Frank Arsesen is sacked.
3. That he could bring back all his backroom staff with him.
Now points 1 and 3 do not seem to be a stumbling block, however point two could be the proverbial sticking point considering the rumoured closeness of Arnesen and Abramovich.
However, whilst accepting that McGarry has uncovered something of an exclusive here, I can`t help feeling that Mourinho is playing a few mind games, in a very similar manner to which he supposedly courted the England job!
Therefore, it poses the question, is Mourinho the proverbial tease?
No response to “MIGHTY BLUE WITH THE SHLONG! HAHA!”
