CHELSEA have launched an appeal against John Terry's controversial red card at Manchester City.

The Blues skipper was sent off for bringing down Jo, although Ricardo Carvalho was widely accepted as the last defender.

But red cards cannot be reduced to a yellow on appeal, so Chelsea will have to demonstrate that Terry should not have been booked.

The Football Association confirmed on that the club had submitted a claim for wrongful dismissal.

An FA regulatory commission will consider the case on Tuesday.
